Prayer and Liturgy at Our School

Prayer and liturgy are at the heart of our Catholic school community. They shape our identity, guide our values, and help our children grow in friendship with Christ. Through daily prayer, regular worship, and the celebration of the liturgical seasons, we nurture a living faith that is joyful, inclusive, and rooted in the Gospel.

Daily Prayer Life

Prayer punctuates the rhythm of each school day. Children and staff pray together:

• At the start of the day, entrusting our work to God
• Before meals and after meals to give thanks for God’s gifts
• At the end of the day, reflecting on how we have lived out Christ’s love

Each week, pupils gather for prayer and liturgy led by staff and pupils. These moments of reflection help children encounter Scripture, explore Catholic values, and understand how faith shapes the way we live. Worship is creative and child‑friendly, using music, drama, silence, and symbol to deepen understanding.

Celebration of the Liturgy

We regularly celebrate Mass and liturgical services as a school community. These include:

• Whole‑school Masses for major feasts and holy days
• Class Masses and liturgies prepared by pupils
• Seasonal celebrations during Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter

Our parish priest works closely with us, helping children experience the beauty and meaning of the Church’s liturgy.

During the special times of Advent and Lent we make promises that reflect the liturgical season and help us prepare for Easter and Christmas. Children have the opportunity to complete Lenten walks around school and participate in Reconciliation Services. We hold a Carol Service and Nativity. We have a Lent and an Advent Mass. The children re-enact the Stations of the Cross through Born for This.

Growing in Faith Together

Parents and families are warmly invited to join us for Masses and special liturgical events. We believe that faith grows strongest when home, school, and parish walk together. Through prayer and worship, we aim to help every child recognise God’s presence in their lives and develop a faith that will guide them long after they leave our school.

Each week on our school newsletter we have introduced Prayer in Action. This initiative aims to encourage children to deepen their relationship with God by putting prayer into their daily lives, both in school and at home. Through simple, meaningful opportunities, the children will be invited to reflect, pray and carry out small acts inspired by their faith.

We greatly value your support at home—whether that is sharing a short prayer together, creating a quiet prayer space, or encouraging your child to talk about their experiences. By working together, we can help nurture each child’s faith journey and understanding of living out the Gospel values in their everyday lives.
