Summer 2 - June / July 2021
Just another half-term to go...can we make it through a whole term this year?
Y2 - Please arrive at 8:45 and collect at 3:15 from the playground.
Books will be sent home on Mondays and should be dropped into the Y2 box on the playground on FRIDAYS ONLY. Please read with your child daily and encourage them to talk about what they have read. You can also use Oxford Owl
( Username: stmaryscannockyear2 Password: year2 )
or your own books from home. Reading records do not need to be sent in this year but feel free to send us a message with how your child is doing. This term, Y2 children will either continue in their RWI Phonics group or No Nonsense Spelling and Comprehension group to support their reading in school.
As well as reading, children should also practise their spelling, handwriting, number bonds and times tables (x2, x5, x10) as often as possible. You can also use your IXL, Spelling Shed, TTR, j2blast accounts to keep improving and show me your progress. Keep those logins safe and enjoy!
What to wear?
As we move into the warmer weather and to keep the virus at bay, Y2 will be doing lots of outdoor work, so please send your child in with a coat and appropriate footwear every day and keep an eye on the weather forecasts to plan for additional warm clothes or caps and sunglasses! Don't forget you can also wear your school hoody, as our classroom can often be cold!
Please wear PE kits and feel free to bring an extra water bottle on PE days (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
Y2 afterschool PE club will be on Tuesdays (see newsletters or ask at the office for more info).
KS1 Sports Day will be held on the Wednesday 16th June (weather permitting). Parents will not be invited this year but Mr Shingler has promised to take lots of photographs!
Please don’t send children in with show and tell objects. Instead, send a photo via the office or BGFL so that we can share objects / experiences safely. Thank you.
Please contact the office if you have any questions or queries and they will pass on your messages and ensure your contact details are up to date with the school.
