Catholic Social Teaching - our Faith in Action

The principles of Catholic Social Teaching underpin all we do in our school.  Our faith calls us to love God and to love our neighbours in every situation, particularly those in need.  Following in Jesus’ footsteps, we hope to bring the justice, love and peace of God to all.

Catholic Social Teaching is based on the life and words of Jesus.  It concerns what the Church has to say about social issues and the way in which Catholic faith should be lived out within society.  These teachings are rooted in Scripture and especially in the teachings of Jesus found in the gospels.

In our school, we put this faith into loving action for others.

Catholic Social Teaching comes into many subjects of our curriculum, not just through our teaching in RE.  Many of our assemblies feature discussion of Catholic Social Teaching and how our faith challenges us to respond in a certain way.

We teach our children to be thoughtful about, and challenging of, the world’s organisations and communities, knowing that we must work together to build a better world for the future.

We fully embrace the Church’s teaching on social justice and, over the year, raise funds for those in need both locally, nationally and globally.  We also undertake fundraising linked to families in our school and we respond to international appeals.
