God is at the centre of our lives and as a schoolcommunity we try to grow in love and care byfollowing the example of Jesus.
Our Saints
Our Saints are an incredibly important part of our life in school. We learn about and celebrate their examples in many ways.
Patronal Saint
Mary is our patronal saint. We celebrate many Marian feasts throughout the year, including the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 8th September where we come together as a school to share in the life of Mary through a prayer assembly, sing happy birthday and celebrate this special occasion with birthday cake! This year, the children have made birthday cards and presented them to Our Lady to decorate her prayer focus. In October and May of each year, we celebrate Mary’s special months through the holy rosary with rosary prayer trails in school and participating in parish rosary times in our wonderful church. In May each year, we have our May Procession in which our children who have just made their First Holy Communion, lead the school in crowning and praising Mary.
House Saints
Each child belongs to a house team named after a saint chosen by the children in each house in 2023. When children join school in Year R, they are assigned to one of these houses. These saints are St Oscar Romero, St Catherine of Alexandria, St Francis of Assisi and St Teresa of Calcutta. Throughout their time in school, children learn about these saints and try to follow the example set by them.
Class Saints
Each of our classes has its own class saints which change regularly in order to give children the opportunity to learn about the lives of many saints from across time and across the world. They learn about their lives and how they can inspire them to follow Jesus more closely.
The class saints for 2026 are as follows:
Year N: St Joseph & St Mary
Year R: St Ignatius & St Bernadette
Year 1: St Francis of Assisi & St Clare of Assisi
Year 2: St Nicholas & St Catherine of Scotland
Year 3: St Maria Goretti & St Catherine of Siena
Year 4: St Therese of Lisieux & St Dominic
Year 5: St Josephine Bakhita & St Maximilian Kolbe
Year 6: St Paul & St Carlo Acutis.
Inspirational sayings from these, and many other, saints are found around the school, including St Catherine of Siena’s inspirational words ‘Be who God created you to be and you will set the world on fire’ in our Y5/6 corridor as children begin to discern their God-given vocation.
