Holiday Homework -
Love your Library Holiday Homework
The hot weather is here! This half term your teachers would like you to visit your local library and enjoy reading a book in the summer sun. Choose your book wisely because we would like you to write a small book review explaining why you loved your new book. Please bring this review back into school on Monday 5th June.
Remember, there will be a prize in each class for the best review. The winner will share their favourite book in assembly with the rest of the schoo
Grab your glass of lemonade, your sunglasses and a good book and enjoy reading!
Education Rally - Saturday 27th May 10.30am from St Mary's School Playground
We Are Saving Paper
We are going to make more use of our technology and cut down on the paper we send out of school. Sometimes letters stay in children's bags and key messages can be lost. Please check your text messages and emails regularly and make sure that any change of detail is notified to the school. We will trial this until the end of the Summer Term. Parents who require a printed letter can request this from the school office. Thank you.

Letter to parents from governors 10 Feb 2017
The governors met this week to consider a number of options regarding succession planning for a new headteacher for St Mary's Catholic Primary School. This is in light of two recent attempts to appoint a headteacher at our school.
I am sure that parents will be in agreement with the governors that they are looking for the best candidate for our school and that this search should continue until that aim is met.
With this in mind, a number of options have been explored.
I am pleased to tell you that there are arrangements in place for the continuing successful leadership in our school. Mr Breeze will be continuing for the next academic year and will be supported in the headship role by Miss Wayman. They will job share this role which is a model of leadership which appears to be on the increase!
In moving ahead in this way, we have secured the ongoing leadership for our school for the next academic year, whilst the appointments process for the new headteacher continues.

*St Mary’s annual Easter egg hunt isn’t too far away from us. We are trialling a new strategy for this event and are asking parents if it’s possible to donate Easter eggs (big or small) chocolate bunnies etc towards this. Perhaps you own a shop or have connections within this area and would be able to help with this!
Tues 14th Feb – Film night

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to ALL volunteers who helped over the festive season! Together we raised just over £2000!!
Many thanks once again!!

Secrets of Success
Well done to the children included in our assembly on Friday. We had concentrated on the secrets of success as learners namely;
- Don't give up
- Understand others
- Try new things
- Work hard
We could have chosen many many more children to feature in the assembly! Please share these secrets of success with your child and ask them to try and explain them to you.

Letter Returns - Important
A number of letters were issued from school on Friday and these are contained in a returnable envelope.
Each letter requests an important return and each child will be asked for this as we rebuild a school profile related to E Safety, acceptable use of computers and technologies as well as use of digital imagery in school.
Please return these on when children arrive back to school.

St. Mary's Sponsored Walk to Lapland!
It is 2378 miles to Lapland from Cannock. Or thereabouts. All children are asked to walk their legs off w/c 26th September. This will include walks in school but we would like to hear of any innovative extra walks you and your family might be doing. Add up the miles and let your teacher know!
We hope that by combining our miles together, we can reach Lapland.
This website will give you an update each day as to the progress made by the children as well as news on the most interesting walks undertaken.
Most importantly, we want EVERY child to take part and to gain lots of sponsors. Money raised is for our children in our school so please get involved and get walking!
